Information for Applicants
Thank you for your interest in the Organizational Science Ph.D. program at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. We welcome your application to the program according to the guidelines laid out by the Graduate School. Important notice: we no longer require GRE/GMAT scores.
The deadline for admissions is December 1.
ONLINE APPLICATION
Our goal is for you to be able to electronically submit all of the necessary application materials, with the exception of the standardized test scores, at the time you submit the online application. Reviewing the detailed application instructions on the Graduate School webpage and following the process carefully will result in your application for admission being processed as expeditiously as possible.
The Online Application is available here. You will need to upload the following materials:
- A one to two-page professional statement discussing your interest in the Organizational Science program and objectives for pursuing this degree
- A current resume or vita
- Unofficial transcripts from each institution attended*
- Contact information for three individuals that will provide letters of recommendation supporting the applicant’s potential as an educator and scholar
*Applicants offered admission will be required to submit one official (original, certified true) copy of their transcripts (as well as official certified translations of the transcripts/mark sheets and degree certifications if the degree was earned outside of the U.S.) to the Graduate School.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Completion of statistics and research methodology courses
- Research experience
We welcome students from a variety of backgrounds. Most of our students enter the program with training in behavioral sciences (e.g., business, communication, psychology, sociology) and statistical analysis.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
International students (whose native language is not English) must submit official test scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of at least 557 on the paper-based test or 83 on the computer-based test or a overall band score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Funding Opportunities
The Organizational Science program is well funded by the University of North Carolina, Charlotte as well as by outside sources via grants and the Organizational Science Center (OSC), our consulting unit.
Upon enrollment in the Organizational Science Ph.D. program, you will receive a full tuition waiver, health care benefits, and a competitive stipend.
In addition, the Organizational Science program offers financial support to Ph.D. students to cover professional development activities (i.e. travel to professional conferences). We expect to provide funding for all students in good standing throughout graduate school.
Graduate students should expect to pay student fees to the University of North Carolina, Charlotte on a per semester basis (the Graduate College website has the most up-to-date information on costs). Finally, students planning to park in the student lots on UNC Charlotte’s campus will need to purchase a parking permit.

The following MA programs are affiliated with Organizational Science. Many students choose to co-enroll in a master’s program, and it is relatively easy to do so with the overlap of coursework and content. Please use the links to browse the content of each Master’s program.
